Overview
As the 2nd Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children approaches on November 18, we can put those most affected by childhood violence at the center of conversations with policymakers.
It can lead to serious implications for children’s health, societal participation and economic prospects. Yet governments’ responses are not nearly robust enough to tackle this solvable problem.
Survivor leaders, activists and allies are calling on national leaders to take urgent action to end violence against children – wherever it happens.
At the 2024 Global Ministerial Conference in Bogotá, over 100 governments committed to ending violence against children. Since then, survivors have been advocating for governments to deliver.

Because when governments turn bold commitments into funded action, they can create a future where:
Governments put resources behind their commitments, with dedicated budgets to turn promises into lasting action and
Survivors of childhood violence know what needs to change because they have lived through the consequences of systems that fail to protect children. Members of the Brave Movement’s Global Survivor Council are using their lived experience and expertise to push governments to take action. Many will bring their voices to the Youth & Survivor Summit in Manila on November 15–16.
Right now, governments are meeting to determine what commitments they will make at November’s Global Ministerial Conference.

Survivors have firsthand experience and insights into the complexities, challenges, and needs of those who have suffered from child sexual abuse. Survivor councils allow lived experience to directly inform policies to keep children safe

All children must be safe online, free from the threat of sexual violence and exploitation

Statutes of limitations silence survivors, shield perpetrators, and perpetuate cycles of abuse. It’s time to put an end to them to recognise ensure survivors can find justice
