Sophia Luu is a trauma-informed designer and survivor who advocates against childhood sexual abuse with 'serious joy'. She is the proud eldest child of a Vietnamese refugee father and an Irish/English working class mother. From 8 years old, Sophia experienced multiple instances of intra-familial sexual abuse and cares deeply about making the conversation more inclusive for those whose experiences and identities are often marginalised. She advocates for diversity and radical intersectionality in these discussions and is particularly focused on how responses to sexual harm vary across different cultures, borders, generations and queer/trans+ identities.

She founded Secrets Worth Sharing in 2023 to promote conversations on this topic with 'serious joy', shortly after her workplace hired a convicted child sex offender. The platform uses design, film and media to educate the public on safer prevention and response, believing that alternative approaches to sexual abuse education are more approachable and effective.

She has worked with various clients in The UK, Ireland and Vietnam and delivers public talks on radical joy in these conversations. She represented the UK at the first Global Ministerial on Ending Violence Against Children alongside the Brave Movement. She was one of the founding facilitators of the React. Network in the UK, for those working in the sector from racialised backgrounds. She served on the advisory board for a Survivor Council in the UK and is a Steering Committee member of To Zero. She was recognised as Grazia Magazine's Trailblazing Activist of 2023.

"Central to my ethos is recognising that survivors are more than just their abuse, and highlighting the joy that is brought through addressing these conversations in a more positive, and trauma-informed way"
