Over the past year, 82 million girls and 69 million boys have experienced some form of sexual violence, approximately 3 girls and 2 boys per second. This is a crisis that undermines the commitment of G7 countries to building secure, prosperous, and just societies.
In response to this crisis, the Brave Movement is calling upon G7 leaders to take decisive and ambitious action against sexual violence against children and adolescents. Global cooperation is essential to combat this borderless crisis. On the Summit’s 50th anniversary, we call upon G7 leaders to demonstrate decisive leadership and make concrete commitments on this critical human rights issue through the following evidence-based proposals:
This 2025 #BeBrave G7 Scorecard builds on the first iteration of the analysis conducted in 2022, assessing each G7 country on how they are responding to childhood sexual violence both at home and around the world.
It draws on the most up-to-date data available across G7 countries and global reporting bodies, as well as from expert insights into progress being made across key indicators. The indicators have been developed and informed by survivor advocates at the heart of the Brave Movement, who have also co-created the demands enshrined in the Brave G7 Call to Action.
While it is clear that there is momentum building around tackling childhood sexual violence across the G7, the kind of progress that needs to be made to adequately tackle a global crisis of this scale around the world is still absent.
At the first Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, held in Bogotá in November 2024, G7 leaders made pledges to end violence against children.
Now, we are working to keep them accountable for their commitments to address childhood sexual violence. Join us in calling on G7 leaders to fulfil their pledges.
